AR observes National Flag Day across Manipur

Imphal/Tbl/Kak/Tpl/Ukl, July 22 2026: Assam Rifles commemorated National Flag Day on Wednesday with a series of patriotic and community outreach programmes across Imphal West, Thoubal, Kakching, Tengnoupal and Ukhrul districts, to mark the historic adoption of the Indian National Flag by the Constituent Assembly on July 22, 1947.According to a statement issued by IGAR (South), the programmes were organised to promote national integration, civic responsibility and respect for the Tricolour among students, teachers and local residents.

In Imphal West, programmes were held at Moral Guidance High School, Komlakhong, and Mantripukhri Garrison.

At Komlakhong, the event began with the National Anthem, followed by an interactive session on the Flag Code of India, covering the proper display, hoisting and respectful handling of the Tricolour.

Students also discussed the evolution of the National Flag and took a pledge to uphold its dignity.

National Flags were distributed to encourage flag hoisting at homes and institutions.

The programme was attended by 150 students, teachers and staff, along with 20 Assam Rifles personnel.

At Mantripukhri Garrison, a weapon and pipe band display was organised for 54 students and 13 teachers of Shemrock Kids Garden School.

In Thoubal district, a commemorative programme brought together 50 Assam Rifles personnel, 25 students and two teachers of Chaoyaima Higher Secondary School.

It concluded with a pledge to serve the nation and uphold the honour of the National Flag.

In Kakching, 60 students of Assam Rifles Public School (Higher Secondary), Pallel Garrison, participated in a National Flag Craft Competition, while 16 students in four house teams took part in a "One India, One Flag" quiz covering the Constitution, freedom struggle and national symbols.

At Tengnoupal High School, the observance began with a flag-hoisting ceremony and rendition of the National Anthem.

A Swachhata Abhiyan cleanliness drive was subsequently conducted within the school campus and surrounding areas, followed by a drawing competition ori the theme "Our National Flag - Symbol of Unity and Pride" featuring 39 students, 6 teachers and 23 personnel.

In Ukhrul district, Assam Rifles organised a Flag Craft Competition at Assam Rifles Public School, Shangshak, where students and school staff created artistic models of the Tricolour while learning about the values of unity, courage, peace and progress represented by the National Flag.
