USTM announces scholarship schemes for Manipur students

Imphal, May 22 2026:
The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) on Friday announced a series of scholarship and freeship schemes for deserving and underprivileged students of Manipur.
Addressing a press conference at the Manipur Press Club, USTM Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque said the initiative seeks to promote inclusive education and expand academic opportunities for students from the Northeast.
As part of the schemes, USTM will provide four-year full freeship to 10 students under the BAAG programme for UPSC Civil Services preparation.
The university will also grant complete fee waivers to 10 students in traditional courses, while 30 others will receive 50 per cent concession in fees.
Additionally, monthly cash scholarships of Rs 2,000 will be given to 50 students based on eligibility.
Students scoring above 70 per cent in qualifying exams can apply.
Hoque further announced a one-day academic workshop on "Role of NEP-2020 & Career Opportunities" on May 23 at Dhanamanjuri University.
The workshop will include a special session on "How to Crack the UPSC Examination" and will see participation from Vice Chancellors, Directors, and senior academicians from across the region.
The USTM Vice Chancellor added that the university will continue to support students through NEP 2020-aligned guidance, career counselling, and civil services coaching.
Established in 2011, USTM is the first State private science and technology university in Northeast India and holds NAAC 'A' Grade accreditation.
