16th Unnou Konde Hunba concludes

Imphal, September 20 2026: The nine-day long 16th Unnou Konde Hunba Thouram - a refresher course cum training programme for Amaiba.

Amaibi and Pena artists, organised by Uttra Shanglen Sana Konung, concluded today at Uttra Shanglen, Sana Konung, Palace Compound.

The valedictory function was attended by Khurai AC MLA Leishangthem Susindro Meitei as chief guest, Manipur University of Culture Vice Chancellor Prof P Gunindro, Art & Culture Department Joint Director G Dharmadas and UKAL general secretary Mutum Maniton as guests of honour, while former MP Maharaj Sanajaoba Leishemba and Angom Ningthou Angom Poireiton presided over the function.

Traditional rituals including Pena Thougal, Anam Athou Kokpa and Lai Haraoba performances marked the occasion.

Certificates and mementoes were distributed to the participating Amaiba, Amaibi and Pena artists.

Speaking on the occasion, Susindro lauded Uttra Shanglen, Sana Konung for taking up the initiative to impart proper training on the do's and don'ts of Umang Lai Haraoba rituals, stating that it will help preserve the sacred tradition in its pristine form and set an example for the world.
