Imphal, June 20 2025:
Addressing the spread of fabricated history and renaming of many places in Manipur, the Federation of Haomee has urged Manipur University to issue rectifications and refute such narratives as an authority on the matter.
A press release issued by Huiremcha Henba, publicity secretary, FoH, has maintained that the history of indigenous people of Manipur has been distorted by people who entered the State between 17th and 19th century in order to paint the indigenes as migrants.
FoH accused such people of publishing books filled with falsified accounts of the past to hide their true status as "tenants" from their younger generations.
FoH has stated that it is the duty of the History Department of Manipur University led by the Vice- Chancellor to refute the false narratives in such books.
It would be wrong for the Vice Chancellor of Manipur University to remain silent on such a crucial issue.
As a well-known educational institution in the country, it is Manipur University's obligation to present an authentic account of the State's history, said FoH.
Addressing the alleged participation of some MU professors in the centenary celebration of the fictitious Anglo-Kuki War 1917-1919, FoH said that such behaviour can legitimise their false historical claims and should be avoided at all costs.
