Imphal, December 18 2025:
The Co-Ordinating Committee on Disturbance Free Educational Zone Demand and All Manipur Recognised Private Schools' Welfare Association (AMRPSWA) have appealed against sudden suspension of academic activities, including normal classes and postponement of exams in schools, colleges & universities.
In separate releases, the Co-Ordinating Committee and AMRPSWA said that the abrupt suspension of classes and postponement of exams on December 17, 2025 caused serious disturbances in the minds of students, said a joint press release issued by the six student bodies.
The organisations pointed out that annual exams, as well as pre-Board and pre-Council exams for BOSEM and COHSEM and exams for Manipur University, were currently in progress.
The organisations mentioned that these abrupt changes, occurring during critical exam periods, negatively impact students' preparation and future opportunities, causing significant concern for the education sector.
The organisations also highlighted the critical importance of proper education for the development and progress of society, asserting that any disturbance to the education sector would be a severe blow to society and cause loss for everyone involved.
The organisations emphasized that education is a fundamental human right and a critical sector that should not be a "soft target" for protests and blockades.
The Co-Ordinating Committee and AMRPSWA appealed to all concerned to refrain from disrupting the academic activities of schools, colleges, and universities, and to ensure that the education sector remains free from all forms of disturbances.
Furthermore, the Co-Ordinating Committee and AMRPSWA expressed deep concern over the prevailing situation in the State following-the recent attack in Torbung and Phougakchao Ikhai on the evening of December 16, 2025, and urged the Government and relevant authorities to take immediate & decisive action to ensure security, conduct thorough investigations, and prevent further violence in the State.
