Sensitization programme on "Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2013" held

Imphal, December 17 2025:
A 1-day sensitisation programme on "Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013" was held today at the Conference Hall of the DC Imphal East Office Complex, Porompat.
The programme was organised by the Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) in collaboration with the District Administration, Imphal East.
The programme was graced by MSCW's Chairperson Th Tiningpham Monsang, Member Secretary W Phajatombi, Members Lourembam Dayabati Devi, T Chuongsin Koireng and SK Sophia as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Tiningpham Monsang said that the Commission was constituted for the welfare of women, focusing on women's rights, social and economic development, investigation of women-related complaints, empowerment of women and ensuring legal safeguards in the State.
She shared that the MSCW regularly conducts campaigns, awareness programmes and seminars at various places across Manipur to create awareness on women-related issues.
She also mentioned that with around 50 percent of employees in the District Administration, Imphal East being women, it is essential to ensure a dignified and safe working environment.
"In this regard, several Internal Committees (ICs) in offices and Local Committees (LCs) in localities have been constituted to safeguard women at workplaces and in society.
The committee members and employees were sensitised about their roles and responsibilities under the Act", she added.
She also asserted that the MSCW remains ready to coordinate and conduct sensitisation programmes anywhere in the State as and when required.
During the technical session, Advocate Thiyam Rajakishore, resource person of MSCW, elaborated on the provisions and objectives of the "Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013", highlighting the mechanisms for prevention and redressal.
