Students launch Slogan Campaign over delay in setting up DIET Centre in Jiribam

Jiribam, July 16 2025: In protest against the Government's failure to act on their four-point memorandum submitted through the Deputy Commissioner of Jiribam to the Governor of Manipur, six student organisations of Jiribam - AMSU, MSF, DESAM, KSA, SUK and AIMS staged a slogan campaign at the gate ofJiri College today.

The demand pertains to the establishment of a District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) centre in Jiribam, a long pending requirement for the district.

During the demonstration, students raised slogans demanding the setting up of a permanent DIET centre and also called for the deployment of sufficient teaching staff.

Speaking during the protest KSA Jiribam president, K Somorjit Singh criticised the government's inaction, stating that the repeated failure to address the legitimate demands of the students has left them with no choice but to intensify their protest.

He further stated that the students' organisations are prepared to launch sustained agitation until their demands are met, said Somorjit.
