TNL, Kuki chiefs commit to peaceful Shirui Lily festival

Amid concerns regarding the free passage of attendees to the upcoming state - level Shirui Lily Festival, Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) and chiefs of Kuki villages along NH- 202 in Ukhrul district have pledged to foster a peaceful atmosphere and a spirit of cooperation.
In a press statement issued by TNL Media Cell, a productive meeting took place between TNL and the Kuki village chiefs at the TNL office in Ukhrul town on May 15, during which both parties agreed to ensure harmony among the communities involved in the festival celebrations, committing to a peaceful and orderly environment during the festival.
Both TNL and the Kuki village chiefs reaffirmed an earlier agreement reached in 2023, which discourages any individual or village from conducting vehicle checks or frisking individuals within the jurisdiction of the TNL .
The two parties also agreed that any actions contrary to this directive would result in serious consequences as determined by the TNL, thereby promoting mutual respect and order among the communities.
At the same time, the Kuki village chiefs clarified that they have nothing to do with the inflammatory press communique issued by the so-called Kuki Village Volunteers-Eastern Zone (KVV-EZ) on May 14, 2025 .
The Kuki village chiefs also pledged their full support and cooperation to the TNL, committing to ensuring a disturbance-free environment leading up to 2nd during the festival.
They assured that there would be no disturbances, to ensure a festive atmosphere where all attendees can enjoy the celebrations in peace, the TNL statement added.
