NABARD celebrates 44th foundation day

The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Manipur Regional Office, Imphal celebrated its 44th Foundation Day at Sangai Hall, Hotel Imphal today.
The celebration was graced by dignitaries, including Dr Anupam Mishra, Vice Chancellor, Central Agricultural University, Imphal; Thaithuilung Pamei, Commissioner, Department of Horticulture, Government of Manipur; Abhay Kumar, Chairman, Manipur, Rural Bank; W Ibohal Singh, RCS, Imphal, Government of Manipur; Partha Mandal, GM/OIC, NABARD Manipur RO, Imphal; and Lily Rose Jajo, Director, UDCRMS, Ukhrul.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Anupam Mishra congratulated NABARD on its 44th Foundation Day, lauding its exceptional role in India's rural transformation.
He praised the bank for its comprehensive approach to development- spanning credit facilitation, infrastructure building, supervision of rural banks, and empowering grassroots institutions.
He also emphasized NABARD's work in Manipur and the North Eastern Region, especially in promoting sustainable agriculture, organic farming, rural infrastructure, and support for artisans and SHGs.
Highlighting the significance of rural credit and cooperative strengthening, Dr Mishra appreciated the implementation of "Sahakar se Samriddhi", including digitization of Primary Agriculture Co-Operative Societies (PACS) and support for multipurpose cooperatives.
Dr Mishra also acknowledged the growing partnership between NABARD and CAU Imphal, especially in areas like youth training, rural entrepreneurship, and technological interventions such as solar spice units and biomass dryers.
Partha Mandal highlighted that NABARD has been playing a pivotal role in the rural development of Manipur by supporting agriculture, infrastructure, and livelihood initiatives.
He asserted that among its various programme, Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF), Watershed Development and WADI Projects, Financial Inclusion Initiatives, Skill Development and Livelihood Promotion, Tribal Development Fund (TDF), Climate Resilient and Sustainable Agriculture, Climate Resilient and Sustainable Agriculture, Off-Farm Sector and Marketing Support, Capacity Building and Awareness Programmes are actively implemented in the State.
Felicitation of Best Performing PACS/M-PACS and release of a brochure on the presentation of NABARD initiatives were the main highlights of the event.
