Imphal, June 11 2025:
Collective efforts by the staff members, cadets and parents' body helped Sainik School, Imphal (SSI), overcome inconveniences caused by the recent flooding in Imphal East district and helped in the preparation of the institute to resume normal Academic activities, scheduled to commence from Thursday.
According to a statement issued by SSI, torrential rainfall on May 29 and 30, and subsequent breaching of the Imphal river bank caused severe inundation of the campus and infrastructure of the school, which had just reopened after the summer break and cadets were busy with their activities.

The flooding disrupted various-planned programmes, including the Inter House Hindi Debate for juniors and seniors , for which cadets whose birthday fell in May were invited as guests for the celebratory dinner.
As the river beside swelled and flood waters reached the houses, prompt instructions were given to all cadets and staff on duty to be vigilant.
The next morning, the cadets and staffers were engaged in collecting bricks from the nearby worksite to form a makeshift pathway linking the mess, where breakfast was served and evacuation of the cadets initiated in tractors and indigenously spruced up floaters to one of the hostels which was on a slightly higher ground.
However, apart from halting of power supply from the generator after water flooded the engine, the drinking water stock also got exhausted, forcing the vice principal and QM to brave the waters and scrounge for drinking water bottles.
Meanwhile, army authorities at Leimakhong were alerted who promptly despatched a water pump, a 15 KV generator and few water bottles.
The parents' body also pitched in by providing adequate quantity of bottled water.
By afternoon, each remaining inmate was given bottled water.
Despite facing the adverse situation, handful of students who stayed back at the school, along with the staff members started clean-up activities when water started to recede.
Undeterred by the challenging condition, the team is still pursuing the daunting task of sprucing up the school for receiving back the cadets on June 12, living up to the motto "Together we can, together we will", elaborated the SSI statement.
