109 Bn CRPF launches tailoring training programme in Senapati

Senapati, February 11 2026:
In a major step toward prompting community empowerment and skill development, the 109 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) inaugurated a 30-day specialised Tailoring Training Programme at Tunggam Affi village in Senapati district on Wednesday.
The initiative, organised under the aegis of Manipur and Nagaland Sector as part of Civic Action Programme (CAP), aims to provide sustainable livelihood opportunities by equipping local residents with professional garmentmaking skills.
The inaugural ceremony was led by Ashok Kumar, Assistant Commandant (109 Bn), on behalf of Brijesh Kumar, Commandant of the Battalion.
M Sheveine, MCS, SDO/BDO of the Paomata, attended as the chief guest.
In her address, she highlighted the importance of self-reliance and urged trainees to utilise the programme to become entrepreneurs capable of contributing to the local economy.
Lohrii Besii, founder and secretary of the Jireh Society of Sustainable Livelihood and Organic Farmers (JSSLOF), also spoke at the event, stressing the value of blending traditional craftsmanship and modern technology.
Nula Bhim, Assistant Commandant of the 109 Bn CRPF also attended the programme.
The month-long program aims to bridge the gap between raw talent and market-ready skills.
By providing intensive hands-on training, the initiative seeks to foster economic independence for women and youth, enhance the value of local textile production & create a sustainable model for rural self-employment.
Village leaders, including the chairman and secretary of Tunggam Afii, representatives of the Women's Society, and members of the Youth & Student Organization, attended the event.
