Locals block Uchathol road

Jiribam, September 04 2026: The locals of Uchathol have extended the blocking of Uchathol road till September 6 midnight over non-repairing of the dilapidated Uchathol road.

It is worth noting that the road has been blocked since September 3 by the locals of the region under the aegis of Uchathol Pioneer Club, meira paibis and SHG Uchathol against the failure of the authorities concerned to renovate the Uchathol road.

The road blockage has been extended as there has been no positive response from the Government authorities concerned.

Speaking in connection with the road blockage, Uchathol Pioneer Club general secretary L Sadananda Singh relented that there have been no positive outcome to repair the dilapidated road despite submitting a memorandum to the Chief Minister and related departments concerned and staging democratic protests.

Though Jiribam Administration officials have visited the site and talks have been held, there has been no fruitful outcome, he said.

In view of the above, the locals have been compelled to resort to blocking of Uchathol road to press the authorities concerned regarding their demand to repair the road, Sadananda added.
