Imphal, May 04 2025:
Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has expressed gratitude to the people of Manipur for the overwhelming support and participation at the Manipur People's Convention, held on Saturday at Khuman Lampak sports complex to mark two years since the outbreak of the ongoing ethnic crisis.
In a statement issued Sunday, COCOMI described the event as a powerful expression of unity and collective resolve to restore peace, dignity, and harmony.
Informing that the convention was attended by lakhs of people from across the state, including scholars, civil society leaders, Meira Paibi members, community representatives, and grassroots organisations, COCOMI acknowledged the contributions of Tangkhul, Mao, Kabui, Rongmei, Aimol, Kom, and Meitei Pangal communities.
It also extended special thanks to the district administration, Manipur police, traffic police, fire and health services, YAS department, Red Cross Society and all concerned for their coordination and support in ensuring the peaceful conduct of the event.
COCOMI said 19 speakers offered valuable opinions and recommendations, which helped shape the resolutions adopted during the convention.
The group reaffirmed its commitment to implementing these resolutions in pursuit of lasting peace and justice.
A candlelight tribute at Kangla Nongpok Thong in memory of those who lost their lives during the crisis drew an emotional response, with COCOMI noting the silent prayers and massive turnout as a moving symbol of collective mourning and hope.
The committee also thanked transport associations for providing affordable travel from every part of the state, and acknowledged donors and contributors whose support helped make the event possible.
COCOMI said that the convention stands as a symbol of unity and resilience, and pledged to continue its efforts to bring the crisis to an end and honour the sacrifices made by the people of Manipur.
