Thang-Ta Loisang celebrates Foundation Day

The 9th Foundation Day of Thang-Ta Loisang, Sana Konung was celebrated today at Uttra Sanglen, Sana Konung.
It was graced by Angom Poireiton, Angom Ningthou, Sana Konung; Thokchom Ibungohal Pukhramba, custom secretary, Sana Konung; and Athokpam Okendro Meetei, president, Thang-Ta Loisang as presidium members.
Speaking at the event, Angom Ningthou Angom Poireiton extended warm greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Thang-Ta Loisang's 9th foundation day.
He asserted that Thang-Ta, an indigenous martial art form, is deeply rooted in the Meitei culture and was historically used to protect the Kingdom and its people from foreign invaders "Thang Ta is deeply ingrained in Manipuri culture, representing the State's history, traditions, and identity.
It is a source of pride and a reflection of the State's rich heritage", he added.
He shared that the Thang-Ta Loisang, Sana Konung was established with the objective of safeguarding the dying artform of Thang-Ta after consulting with the Thang-Ta teachers and under the aegis of the titular King of Manipur.
Angom Ningthou Angom Poireiton further called for collective effort to promote & preserve the culture and traditional arts forms of Manipur.
Offering of floral tributes to the deceased 'Sintakpurels' and Gurus of Thang-Ta was the main highlight of the event.
