AFESWA Thoubal holds annual get-together, welcomes new members

Thoubal, January 02 2026: The Annual Get-Together of the Armed Forces Ex-servicemen Welfare Association (AFESWA), Thoubal, was held on Thursday at the residence of Retd Subedar N Sunson, located at Khangabok Pt I Sanilou Leikai.

The programme was attended by AFESWA president Retd Wing Commander Ak Debendra; Jila Sainik Board secretary, Honorary Captain S Yaima; AFESWA secretary Retd Subedar Kh Ingocha and cashier Retd Havildar L Babuchouba, along with several members of the association.

A key highlight of the programme was the warm welcome extended to newly enrolled members, providing an opportunity for interaction and acquaintance with senior members of the association.

The event also witnessed an exchange of gifts, symbolising unity and mutual respect among members.

Notably, gifts were presented to male members by the widowed members of AFESWA, reflecting a spirit of brotherhood and solidarity.

Speaking on the occasion, AFESWA secretary retired Subedar Kh Ingocha expressed happiness over the growing strength of the association and welcomed the newly joined members.

He recalled that traditionally, male members presented gifts to widowed members every year, however, this year marked a meaningful gesture as widowed members presented gifts to the male members, considering them as their own brothers.

He extended New Year greetings to all members of AFESWA, and expressed hope that the association would continue to work collectively for the welfare and well-being of ex-servicemen and their families in the district.
