Imphal, July 01 2025:
The armed Kangleipak Communist Party-Apunba ((KCP-Apunba) imposed permanent ban on import and sale of tobacco products in Kangleipak (Manipur) and appealed people to stop consumption and sale of tobacco products.
Announcing the ban, a KCP-Apunba statement said agents and shops dealing in tobacco products including Zarda, Talab, Khaini, Sajaan, Supari and others will not be allowed to sell the same from July 6 onwards along with warning of stringent action against anyone found defying the ban.
It also appealed to agents and shops importing and selling health hazard tobacco products to find alternative business.
According to the KCP-Apunba statement issued by publicity secretary Punsirol Meitei, the Government of India has been adopting many strategies to suppress the people of Kangleipak (Manipur) and prolong hegemonic rule.
One such strategy is the uninterrupted supply of tobacco products to Kangleipak (Manipur) so that people are trapped to their poison net.
As such, it would be right step to stop the supply of tobacco products to Kangleipak, the outfit said and appealed clubs, organisations and Meira Paibi groups to support the ban and drive against tobacco products.
