MEELAL Jiribam forms new district committee for 2026-28 term

Jiribam, March 30 2026: In a continued effort to promote Meitei Mayek and the Manipuri language, the Jiribam district branch of Meetei Erol Eyek Loinasillon Apunba Lup (MEELAL), Kangleipak convened a meeting on Sunday at the residence of Khomdram Bhupen at Jiribam IB Leikai.

MEELAL in a release said that the meeting followed the recent election and swearing-in of office bearers for various districts, including Imphal East Imphal West, Thoubal, Bishnupur and Kakching.

The meeting was attended by advisor of MEELAL Jiribam, Hamom Dhani Meitei; Meelal Head Office, president in-charge Langoljam Nongmailembi Leima; Sanasam Gulapi as presidium members.

During the meeting, members resolved to dissolve the outgoing district committee (2024-2026) upon completion of its tenure.

Subsequently, a new 13-member district committee for the term 2026-28 was constituted.

Khundrakpam Jamuna was elected as president, while Tourangbam Somarendro and Yumnam Chandrasakhi were appointed as vice-presidents.

Khundrakpam Rajkumar was elected as secretary general.

The meeting also appointed Hamom Dhani and Sanasam Gulapi as advisors to the newly formed committee.
