Chandel, August 28 2025:
The Chandel District Police has issued a heartfelt appeal to the people of the district to unite against the growing menace of drugs, following the tragic death of a young boy suspected to have succumbed to a drug overdose near Lamphou Charu and Anal Khullen villages in Chandel district.
In an official statement, Superintendent of Police Dharmendra Kumar Tyagi expressed deep sorrow over the incident, describing it as not only the grief of one family but also a painful reminder of the rising threat posed by drugs in the community.
"Drugs are silently and steadily destroying many precious lives, stealing away our young people-the future pillars of our district-before they can even reach their potential.
If unchecked, more innocent lives will be lost, families shattered, and society will suffer irreparable damage," the SP said.
He called upon citizens, village leaders, churches, youth clubs, and organizations to work collectively in identifying and stopping individuals involved in spreading narcotics.
Emphasizing that law enforcement cannot win the battle alone, the SP urged the public to report any information related to drug activities without fear.
