New Myopia Clinic inaugurated

Imphal, July 26 2026: A new Myopia Clinic was inaugurated at Eastern Eye Foundation and Research Centre, Khurai Ahongei Leirak, Porompat on Sunday, with eye care services beginning immediately.

The clinic was opened by retired Principal of Oriental College Hawaibam Ongbi Sumatina as chief guest, along with Head of Zies Myocare Management Rupam Sinha, retired Lecturer ofYK College H Pnyokumar, and Chairman and Managing Director of Eastern Eye Foundation and Research Centre Dr Ronel Soibam.

Speaking at the event, Dr Ronel Soibam said myopia among children aged 4 to 22 is rising rapidly.

He attributed it to reduced outdoor activity and increased time on mobile phones, TV and reading indoors.

He added that the new machines at the clinic will help in early detection of myopia.
