Five succumb to Covid, 210 newly infected

Imphal, September 24 2021: The state on Friday recorded marginal rise in the daily positivity rate after it remained under 5 per cent in the past two days while five more persons succumbed to Covid-19 and 210 persons have been newly infected out of 3101 samples tested to register a positivity rate of 6.77 per cent against Thursday's 5.66 per cent.

Though the positivity rate is below 7 per cent, Chandel (15.4 per cent), Kamjong (12.8 per cent), Imphal East (9.8 per cent), Kakching (9.3 per cent) and Imphal West (8.1 per cent) recorded high positivity rate.

The active caseload has come down 2029 out of which 449 (22.13 per cent) are in home isolation, 593 (29.23 per cent) in CHICs, 614 (30.26 per cent) in CCCs and 373 (18.38 percent) in hospitals.

Among the hospitalised patients, 77 are admitted in ICU/HDU wards while 110 are on oxygen support and 24 on ventilator support.

However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support at JNIMS though it has 162 patients.

On the other hand, there are six patients on oxygen support in different CCCs.

As of Friday evening, 540 beds including 102 ICU/HDU beds are available in different hospitals though there is no update on bed vacancy in other facilities.

As on Thursday evening, 2866 beds were available in different Covid Care Centres and 391 beds (25 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.

So far, the state has recorded 90,045 positive cases and 1469 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.

The current month recorded 5512 new cases and 61 fatalities out of which 1324 new cases and 17 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.

According to official reports, the 210 new positive cases included 209 persons (109 male & 100 female) from among the general population and one jawan of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) whose samples were detected at RIMS (8), JNIMS (25) and other testing centres (177).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (43), Imphal West (105), Thoubal (8), Bishnupur (4), Kakching (10), Ukhrul (11), Churachandpur (4), Chandel (6), Senapati (4), Tamenglong (2), Kamjong (6) and Kangpokpi (6).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

The five fatalities reported in the last 24 hours were residents of Imphal West (1), Imphal East (1), Senapati (1), Churachandpur (1) and Kangpokpi (1) .

Out of the five victims, two did not have any co-morbid condition while one had 1st dose and another both doses of Covid vaccine.

The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1843 .

In the last 24 hours, 179 persons were discharged from home isolation (37), RIMS (9), JNIMS (9), CCCs (95) and CHICs (29).At the same time, 267 already discharged persons were reported only on Friday and the total number of recovered cases has been put at 446.The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,19,445 (general population - 1,15,176 and CAPF personnel - 4,269).Number of recovered cases is 1,15,573 (general population -1,11,371 and CAPF personnel - 4,202) and number of active cases is 2,029 (general population -1,967 and CAPF personnel - 62).The recovery rate is 96.76 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1069 D-type and 373 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

Only 5620 vaccine doses were administered on Thursday which took the cumulative number of vaccinated individual to 12,17,378 including 4,33,935 fully vaccinated individuals.

As of Thursday, 1,00,168 eligible persons are yet to get the second shots of vaccine.

In Kakching district, seven residents of Elangkhanpokpi Mayai Leikai were found positive for Covid-19 on Friday.

Their samples were tested at government RAT sites according to District Surveillance Officer Kakching Dr Kesho Singh Moirangthem.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (40,942), Imphal East (26,426), Thoubal (9306), Churachandpur (9991), Kangpokpi (27.44), Tamenglong (3255), Bishnupur (8968), Senapati (2185), Ukhrul (2666), Kakching (6329), Chandel (2265), Noney (1059), Tengnoupal (1031), Jiribam (1015), Kamjong (830) and Pherzawl (433) .

Fatalities counts in different districts are Imphal West (613), Imphal East (433), Thoubal (168), Churachandpur (157), Kangpokpi (59), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (186), Senapati (9), Ukhrul (32), Kakching (110), Chandel (35), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (4) and Pherzawl (0) .

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 38,493 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,070 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 4,14,134 tests per million population against the national average of 4,00,913 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.54 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, only 3101 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 6.77 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity came down to 9.29 per cent.
