NAB nabs two with 5K codeine syrup bottles

Imphal, September 24 2021:
NAB police station arrested two persons and recovered 5000 bottles of Codeine Phosphate Syrup from their possession during checking at near Lilong Bridge on Thursday.
The arrested persons been identified as BM Md Sabir Khan (23) son of BM Md Abdul Rahaman of Lilong Litan Makhong and Phundreimayum Imran Khan (36) son of Md Naijib Ahmad of Sangaiyumpharn Nungouphou Mathak Leikai, Thoubal.
According to police, the NAB team were conducting random checking of vehicles near Lilong Bridge area along the Indo-Myanmar Road at about 4.30 pm during which a white coloured TATA Magic (MN-04A 5739) was halted and checked.
As the two occupants did not give proper specifications of the contents in the carton boxes, spot checking was conducted and found suspected Codeine Phosphate Syrup bottles in the carton boxes.
On further spot verification, they disclosed that the suspected drugs were being transported from Sangaiyumpharn for delivery at Mantripukhri.
They also revealed that each carton box contained 100 bottles of Codeine Phosphate Syrup.
The two drug peddlers were arrested and case registered at NAB PS for further investigation.
