Three books on Moirang Kangleirol and Manipur history released

Moirang, May 24 2026: Three books related to Moirang Kangleirol and the pre-history and protohistory of Manipur were released today during a simple function organised by the Moirang Thangjing Yageiral Marup at Lions Club Service Centre, Moirang Chengei Leikai.

The book release ceremony was attended by Th Shanti Singh as the chief guest, while president of Moirang Thangjing Yageiral Marup, Moirangthem Nodia Ngagoicha presided over the function.

Among the notable dignitaries present at the event were former MLA of Moirang Assembly Constituency and retired IAS officer P Sharatchandra Singh, retired Superintendent of the Archaeology Department Dr Okram Kumar Singh, retired Associate Professor of Moirang College and president of Khamba-Thoibi Dance Academy Y Modhu Singh, principal of Kumbi College Amom Thoinu Devi, and Associate Professor of Manipur University Dr Kumam Anthony Singh as guests of honour.

The programme commenced with a musical presentation by students of Moirang Music College.

During the function, a souvenir based on the Festival of Moirang Sai, held from December 23 to 24, 2025 and jointly organised by the Moirang Thangjing Yageiral Marup, Moirang College and Khamba Thoibi Dance Academy, was also released.

The books officially released during the event included "Manipur Pre-History, Protohistory and History" authored by Dr Okram Kumar Singh, and "Moirang Kangleirol gi Leikhal Leichu" and "Kege Moirang Gi Tabunungdagi" authored by Dr Moirangthem Rajesh Singh.

As part of the programme, certificates of appreciation were presented to Moirangthem Prome Devi, Ahanthem Rajmohon Singh and L Sunita in recognition of their dedication and contributions towards Manipuri art and culture.
