Bishnupur, July 22 2024:
Torbung GP Village Volunteer Force (VVF) has appealed to the government to allow the displaced people of Torbung GP under Moirang CD Block to return to their respective homes at the earliest.
On Monday, VVF team along with media persons visited the abandoned houses in Torbung Sabal Mamang Leikai that have been destroyed by Kuki narco-terrorists.
Interacting with the media, VVP executive member Thangjam Ramesh said that around 20 families of the locality have returned to their respective homes and the condition is conducive now for five more families to resettle at their own homes.
The government had sanctioned reconstruction of around 30 houses, he said and appealed to the government to make necessary arrangements to facilitate construction of the houses at the earliest.
Ramesh also urged the government to sanction reconstruction of the remaining houses.
On the other hand, the VVP executive member said, some unfounded rumours doing the round on social media have discouraged the displaced people of Torbung GP from resettling at their own land.
He appealed to all concerned to refrain from spreading such rumours and sharing the same.
One may verify such fake information from the VVF or local people, he said.
He further appealed to Inner Manipur MP to present a clear picture of the current situation in the state in the ongoing Parhament session, and also raise the demand for implementing NRC, flushing out Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists, abrogating the SoO agreement signed with Kuki militants, and expedite the border fencing.
