KBCC hosts 22nd Meritorious Award Ceremony

Marking the 35th death anniversary of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna awardee Rajiv Gandhi, the 22nd Meritorious Award ceremony was held today at the Konthoujam Block Congress Committee (KBCC) office, Awang Jiri.
The annual event, jointly organised by Kissan Congress, MPCC and KBCC, honoured meritorious students from Konthoujam AC who passed this year's Class X and XII examinations conducted by BOSEM, COHSEM and CBSE.
Former Lok Sabha MP Th Meinya attended as chief guest, while KBCC president Golmei Gaimeilung presided.
National coordinator, All India Kisan Congress and AICC in-charge Manipur Neelam Ramesh, Imphal West-1 DCC president H Ibotombi Singh, MPCC Kisan Congress chairman Laishram Nando Singh, and Mahila Congress Konthoujam Block president Y Sangeeta were guests of honour.
Addressing the gathering, Th Meinya said pass percentages in Class X and XII have risen sharply and urged students to guard against complacency.
He asked them to respect elders, teachers and parents, maintain discipline, and work hard to become the "pillars of tomorrow".
Altogether, 227 meritorious students were presented certificates and cash incentives sponsored by L Nando Singh.
Floral tributes were also paid to the portrait of late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi as part of the programme.
