Imphal, January 20 2026:
Reacting strongly to the recent statement made by MLA Leishiyo Keishing, social activist Ashang Kasar has demanded a convincing clarification from the NPF leadership.
Notably, the NPF lawmaker had stated that the party will support whoever is chosen by the Centre as the leader of the new Government at the inaugural ceremony of Khukok Long Sports Conference cum Sports, Cultural, Literary Meet and silver jubilee celebration on January 17, 2026 at Alang village, Kamjong.
Stating that the MLA's political narrative runs contrary to the basic structure and principles of the NPF, Ashang Kasar said the Chief Minister or any leader should be chosen by the people and not by Delhi or any High Command.
Accusing NPF legislators of speaking in "different tones" and confusing the public, he said the party leaders seem to be drifting apart with no cohesive and unified leadership.
During elections, the NPF leadership made a firm promise that the party would work for Naga National aspirations, but today the party MLAs have become political puppets of the Central Government.
The Naga public demands the party to show its report card to the people of the State at the earliest, added the social activist.
Questioning if the Phungyar AC MLA's statement is the official statement of the NPF, Ashang Kasar has demanded a clarification from the second oldest regional party in India.
