Bird traps seized

Thoubal, November 19 2025:
In a continued effort to curb bird trapping with the onset of winter and the arrival of migratory birds in the State, the Thoubal Forest Division carried out an extensive drive in the vicinity of Sangaiyumpham and Khangabok, during which multiple bird traps were recovered.
The operation was led by Heirok Beat Officer Th Newton, with staff and officials of the Beat Office, under the supervision of DFO Dr Leishangthem Jeeceelee.
Beat Officer Th Newton informed that with the arrival of winter, numerous migratory birds have begun reaching the State and are actively feeding in local habitats.
He appealed to the public not to lay traps or harm them, stressing the importance of protecting wildlife during this critical season.
He further stated that similar drives will continue in the coming days to ensure safety and conservation of the migratory birds.
