AR boosts Smile Foundation with new RCC Centre for women empowerment, education

Imphal, March 18 2026:
In a significant step towards promoting education, welfare, and skill development, the Assam Rifles has undertaken the construction of new infrastructure for the Smile Foundation at Bamon Leikai, Imphal East district, under Operation Sadbhavana for the Financial Year 2025-26.The project was aimed at enhancing the functional capacity of the NGO and empowering local women through improved facilities.
As part of the initiative, a Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC) structure with a plinth, complete with electrical installation, was constructed to support the activities of the Smile Foundation.
The newly developed infrastructure is expected to provide a safe and conducive environment for the organisation to conduct educational and skill development programmes, thereby strengthening its outreach and impact in the region.
The inauguration event was attended by representatives of Civil Society Organisations, local authorities, members of the Smile Foundation, residents of the area, and senior officials of the Assam Rifles.
During the interaction, Assam Rifles officials appreciated the efforts of the NGO in advancing welfareand education at the grassroots level.
Representatives of the Smile-Foundation expressed gratitude to the Assam Rifles for their support, acknowledging the project as a meaningful contribution towards empowering women and strengthening community development initiatives.
