Covid active tally rises to 19

Imphal, June 16 2025:
Seven new COVID-19 cases were confirmed on Monday, taking the total number of active cases in the state to 19.The current positivity rate stands at a concerning 43.5 percent.
According to official sources, among the newly detected cases, five are from Imphal West district, while Thoubal and Kakching districts accounted for one each.
The latest infections were identified from 16 samples tested in the past 24 hours.
Since June 1, a total of 82 samples have been tested, of which 20 were confirmed positive for COVID-19.Currently, 19 patients remain under home isolation, while one individual has been discharged on completion of the mandatory seven-day isolation protocol on Monday.
In another development, Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla chaired a Covid-19 review meeting at the Raj Bhavan conference hall on Monday as per the recent directives from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), on enhancing preparedness amid rising concerns of a possible Covid-19 resurgence.
The meeting was attended by chief secretary, senior medical officials from the Health Department and other authorities concerned.
In the review, meeting, officials briefed the Governor on the state's preparedness, including diagnostics, PPE kits, oxygen supply, ICU and isolation wards, essential drugs, and the IDSP-IHIP portal.
Challenges related to testing capacity, medical supplies and hospital readiness Were also discussed.
The Governor stressed the need for proactive measures, adequate medical infrastructure, and community awareness to ensure the state remains equipped to handle any potential surge in Covid cases.
