'Yumjao Lairembi' wins top honours

Imphal, May 16 2026: The Diamond Drama Festival-2026 concluded Saturday with a prize distribution ceremony at Manipur Dramatic Union (MDU), Yaiskul Police Lane.

Jointly organised by Diamond Radio and MDU to mark World Theatre Day, the festival featured 16 theatre groups and was held on March 27 .

Festival convenor Sanjit Saikhom said the first two editions in 2024 and 2025 were audio-only, making this year's live stage event the first of its kind in the State.

A total of 39 awards across on-stage and off-stage categories were presented.

Yumjao Lairembi Dramatic and Cultural Union, Khagempalli, bagged Best Production for Kaorage, along with Best Director, Script, Actor, Light and Set, Music, Make-up, Costume and Child Actor.

Kodompokpi Dramatic Union shared Best Light and Set and Best Costume for Mikup Matang.

Best Actress and Supporting Actress went to artistes of Phambak Shaktam Langba Leepun, Keinou for the play Iche.

Director of Trade, Commerce and Industries Hannah Kamei was chief guest, while former Minister Moirangthem Hemanta presided.

Saraswati Institute of Management & Para Medical Sciences, Pangei founder chairman Plush Phijam and Smart Security Services secretary Pratap Laimujam also attended as guests of honour.
