NPP to probe

The National People's Party (NPP) has set up a fact finding committee to investigate the demolition of the historic Rajbari in Shillong recently.
The fact-finding committee has MLA Kh Loken Singh as the chairman, and the party's key functionaries including RK Rameshwar Singh, Russel Heisnam, Ratika Yumnam and U Ramesh Singh as members.
The committee will submit its report and recommendations within 15 days, said an order issued by the NPP Manipur State president Y Joykumar today.
The Rajbari in Redlands is the place where Maharaja Bodhchandra signed the Manipur Merger Agreement on September 21, 1949.The historic building was dismantled for reconstruction, the Planning and Development Authority (PDA) had recently clarified.
This clarification came a day after NPP chief and Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma had said that his Government had no role in the demolition of the Rajbari.
