Awareness programme on 'Ending Discrimination Against Women in Society' held in Kakching

Kakching, February 11 2026: An awareness programme on the theme "Ending Discrimination Against Women in Society" was held today at Tangjeng Khunjao Community Hall in Kakching district.

The event was organised by the District Programme Officer's Office of the ICDS Cell, under the supervision of the District Administration.

Advocate Kshetrimayum Sarankumari Devi, Panel Lawyer of the Manipur State Legal Services Authority, attended as the resource person highlighted the central theme of the programme.

She emphasised the urgent need to eliminate gender-based discrimination in all spheres of life.

M Bimola, Supervisor of the ICDS project, briefed the gathering on the various services provided under the Integrated Child Development Services.

Meanwhile, Ng Nandita, also a supervisor of the ICDS project, elaborated on the objectives of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme and its role in empowering girl children.

Around 200 participants, including 70 adolescents, took part in the awareness programme.

Simple gifts were also distributed to the participating adolescents.
