Imphal, January 07 2026: A grand reception programme for Kadamgaipou Gangmei was held at the Imphal International Airport on Tuesday.

Kadamgaipou Gangmei of Luangchum, Awangkul in Noney district, recently made waves in MMA, winning the Himachal Pradesh Fight Championship in Shimla (December 2025) in the Flyweight category, defeating strong national contenders to become a celebrated Manipur fighter.

The reception programme, jointly organised by the Gangmei Phwam, Assam, Manipur, Nagaland (AMN) and Luangchum Students Union ( LSU), was attended by friends, family members and well wishers.

At the event, Gaithaoni@ Mani Gangmei, president of Gangmei Phwam Assam Manipur and Nagaland, expressed happiness and added that Kadamgaipou Gangmei brought laurel not only for himself but also for the whole of Manipur by achieving such a great feat in his sports discipline.

"Inspite of his humble and poor family background, his strong determination, hard work and dedication lead to his victory", said Mani Gangmei.

Mani Gangmei also conveyed his best wishes to Kadamgaipou Gangmei prayed for success in his future endeavours.
