Imphal, August 05 2025: Cine Artists & Technicians' Association (CATA) and the Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) are gearing up to organise the "SN Chand Ningsing Thouram" on August 8 at the Palace Auditorium of MSFDS located at Palace Compound, Imphal.

Speaking to media persons in this connection at MSFDS today, MSFDS secretary Sunzu Bachaspatimayum said that renowned director Sapam Nodiachand was bom August 8, 1935.Since 2006, CATA has commemorated the birth anniversary of SN Chand with a memorial event.

However, the memorial ceremony was not observed in the last few years due to the Covid pandemic and the Manipur conflict.

At the upcoming event, "Brojendragee Luhongba," directed by SN Chand, which is also the first Manipuri film, will be screened.

Altogether, SN Chand directed three films.

The other two are "Ngak-e Ko Nangse" and "Khuthang Lamjel" .

Aside from being a director, SN Chand also dabbled in acting, singing and stage performance, he added.

Meanwhile, CATA president H Nimai informed that the SN Chand Award will also be presented on the occasion.
