Kakching, January 02 2026:
A one-day free medical camp was organised on Friday at the Indoor Stadium, Kakching, by the District Administration, Kakching, in collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Kakching and various Relief Camp Committees of the district.
The medical camp primarily benefited internally displaced persons (IDPs) residing in different relief camps across the district.
During the camp, doctors under the CMO, Kakching, provided free medical consultations and health check-ups to the inmates.
Free medicines were also distributed to the beneficiaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayanglambam Maniyaima, a member of the Kha-Manipur College Girls' Hostel Relief Camp Committee, lauded the initiative of the District Administration and the CMO Kakching, for organising the medical camp for the welfare of the displaced people.
He stated that the IDPs who have been taking shelter in various relief camps since the outbreak of ethnic violence on May 3, 2023, are nearing three years of displacement.
He pointed out that the inmates have endured prolonged suffering and hardship and urged the government to expedite the resettlement process.
While acknowledging the efforts of the District Administration, he appealed for greater initiatives to ensure that IDPs are able to return to their original homes at the earliest.
