Imphal, March 01 2025: Responding to the appeal of Gover- nor Ajay Kumar Bhalla to surrender looted and illegally held arms and ammunition, a number of arms, ammunition and other items were surren-dered to Bishnupur Com- mandos this afternoon.

The surrendered arms and ammunition include one .303 rifle, one double barrel gun, four single barrel guns, six high explosive hand grenades, one .32 pistol (country made), one .32 pistol along with magazine, two camouflage pants, 19 bullet proof vests, six bullet proof helmets, four camouflage shirts, one Baofeng walkie talkie set, nine bullet proof plates, four live rounds of 12 bore cartridge, 54 live ammunition of .303 rifle, 11 live ammunition of SLR, 10 live ammunition of 5.56, nine detonators, three smoke grenades, two Insas LMG magazines, one Insas rifle magazine, three live ammunition of single cartridge, 10 empty cases of .303 rifle, five ammunition charger of .303 and 7.62 mm ammunition charger.

The arms and ammunition were surrendered before high ranking police officers of Bishnupur district.

The surrendered arms and ammunition were later handed over to the Moirang and Kumbi police stations, said sources.

On Friday, a total of 33 different types of weapons were surrendered in Teng-noupal, Imphal East, Kang- pokpi, Imphal West and Thoubal districts along with ammunition and other miscellaneous items. In Thoubal, two .303 rifles with one magazine each, one .303 rifle without magazine and one 36 HE hand grenade were surrendered before SP Dr S Ibomcha yesterday.

At Moreh police station, Tengnoupal district, two INSAS rifles, one 51 mm mortar, one INSAS magazine, one INSAS LMG magazine, 22 live rounds of 9 mm ammunition, three carbine magazines, two 9 mm magazines, three bullet proof jackets without plate, two pompi guns, three country made IEDs, two country made hand grenade, one carbine gun with sling and three pompi rounds were surrendered.

At Lamlai police station, Imphal East, 19 packets containing 228 rounds of .380 inch MK-2 cartridge, 26 numbers of MK 13 T ODR, four live rounds of 5.56 live ammunition, six live rounds of 7.62 live ammunition, one 36 hand grenade, one stinger grenade, one tear smoke shell, three bullet proof jackets, two military helmets and two Baofeng sets were surrendered.

At Porompat police station, one Enfield .303 rifle and three 36 hand grenades were surrendered.

One .303 rifle with magazine, one 9 mm pistol with magazine, one 12 bore single barrel gun, three 36 hand grenades, five live rounds of .303 ammunition and one smoke grenade were surrendered before Commando, Imphal East.

At Sagolmang police station, one local made lathod gun, one local made rifle, one local made SBBL, five local made improvised gun (pompi) with trigger, six local made improvised launchers (pompi), two local made grenades, three local made pompi shells, two Baofeng handsets were surrendered by Kuki village volunteers from Wakan village through 28 AR and 16 AR.

At Patsoi police station, Imphal West, three country made single barrel guns, one hand grenade, two wireless handsets (Kenwood), three wireless handsets (Baofeng), four stun grenades and seven bullet proof jackets were surrendered yesterday.

At Lamphel police station, one 7.62 SLR with magazine, one .303 rifle with magazine, one M-1 carbine with magazine, one DBBL gun, one SBBL gun, five 36 HE grenades, six numbers of tube launching, three anti-riot smoke bombs, four rounds of 7.62 ammunition and 83 rounds of 5.57 ammunition were surrendered.
