Father refutes police claim

Moirangthem Tomei, father of M Rana Pratap alias Paikhomba, self styled general secretary of KCP (Peoples War Group), has claimed that his son was arrested after he was called out from the designated camp located at Bishnupur on September 4, at around 7.40 pm.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, Moirangthem Tomei said that his son has been staying at the designated camp located at Bishnupur and is in the process of returning to the mainstream as per the proposal sent by the Joint Secretary, Home, Manipur to some KCP factions, including KCP Lamyanba Khuman, KCP Tamnganba, KCP Poirei Meitei and KCP MC on December 27 last year.
He alleged that on September 4, Special Cell Delhi police came to the designated camp and called out his son Rana Pratap to have a few words.
However, he (Rana Pratap) was forcefully arrested at around 7.40 pm without producing any kind of arrest memo, for his alleged involvement in sending threats to Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
He continued that on the day of the arrest, Special Cell Delhi took the signature of Rana Pratap's wife on a plain paper and the said paper was later produced before the Court as the seizure memo on the day Special Cell Delhi police took transit remand of Rana Pratap from the Court.
The father appealed to the authority concerned to look into the incidents of arrests of those who are in the process of trying to return to the mainstream by signing MoUs with the Government.
It may be mentioned that Moirangthem Rana Meitei alias Rana Pratap alias Paikhomba (40) s/o Tomei of Pangei bazar, was allegedly arrested from Bishnupur bazar on September 4, at around 9 pm, as claimed by Special Cell Delhi police through Investigating Officer Sanjay Dutt (Assistant Commissioner of Police Special Cell/ South Western Range, Delhi) before the Court for taking six days transit remand of Rana.
It was submitted that Moirangthem Rana was arrested in the course of investigation following the arrest of Oinam Ibochouba alias Khoirangba s/o Irabot of Ningthoukhong Awang Leikai, chairman of the proscribed KCP (PWG).
It was also submitted by the 10 that the investigation revealed that the said outfit had threatened Chief Minister N Biren and is engaged in various activities including waging of war against the Union of India and is in the process of establishing safe house in New Delhi for storing arms and ammunition for the said purpose.
It may also be mentioned that Court allowed the six days transit remand of M Rana Pratap and directed the authority concerned to produce him before the Court in Delhi on September 10 .
