Imphal, September 06 2011:
The Zeliangrong Youth Front (ZYF) demanded to the state government to honour and comply the directive of the Union Home Minister addressed to the then Chief Minister of Manipur in 1990 to merge Zeliangrong areas of Churachandpur and Senapati districts to Tamenglong district.
A press release of ZYF emailed to Hueiyen Lanpao stated that before initiating and commencement of official works of the Re-organization of Administrative and Police Boundaries headed by Chief Secretary as Chairman and others as Secretary and members of the committee for the purpose of assessing detail reports within three months time so that to declare Sadar Hills as a full-fledged district, the state government should first execute the directive of the Union Home Minister.
In compliance to the directive, the respective Deputy Commissioners of Churachandpur and Senapati districts had already submitted detail reports to the government for necessary action.
However, till today, the state government has failed to fulfill the directive.
This is clear case of non-compliance and defiance of the Union Home Minister's directive by the state government, alleged the press release.
It further added that the Zeliangrong people will not remain as silent spectators if any attempt is made by the state government for further bifurcation of Zeliangrong areas and to be amalgamated to any other areas or districts on the pretext of administrative convenient or other unjustified reasons.
The directive to merge Zeliangrong areas of other districts to Tamenglong district should be first materialize before declaration of Sadar Hills district or any districts, it demanded.
