Pherzawl, October 30 2025:
The District Health Society (DHS), Pherzawl, on Thursday organized an awareness programme on animal bites and their management at Government High School, Senvon, under the Sardar@150 initiative.
The session was attended by students and teachers from various schools in the area.
Dr Hmanglamkhup Kom, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Pherzawl, highlighted the rising number of dog bite incidents across districts, some of which have resulted in fatalities.
He emphasized the importance of immediate first aid and prompt reporting to the nearest health centre for anti-rabies vaccination following any suspected rabid dog bite.
Dr Kom also urged pet owners to vaccinate their dogs once between 14 to 16 weeks of age and annually thereafter to prevent the spread of rabies.
As part of the event, the DHS launched the second round of deworming drug distribution for students in the PHC Senvon area, reinforcing its ongoing public health initiatives aimed at improving community wellbeing.
