Weapons recovered, 12 UGs arrested

Imphal, April 27 2025:
Central and state forces recovered a large cache of arms and arrested 12 cadres of different UG outfits in a series of operations conducted in different parts of the state on Saturday.
A combined team recovered one SLR, two SBBLs, one bolt-action rifle, four pumpi guns, two 36 HE hand grenades, an SLR magazine, an INSAS magazine, two bore cartridges, five 7.62 mm rounds, 13 casings of 7.62 mm, two 51 mm mortar covers, two tube launchers, four tear gas shells (SN), three stun shells, two tear gas shells (CS), two 2-inch smoke shells, two 2-inch para shells, a bulletproof vest, a helmet, a blue tarpaulin and a bag of besan from Moltincham village under Sugnu police station in Kakching district.
Meanwhile, in Imphal East district, four cadres of Pambei-led UNLF and an associate were arrested from Wangkhei Thangapat Mapal near Young Pioneer Club under Porompat PS.
The arrested cadres were identified as Wangmayum Azizur Rahman alias Tiger (52) of Mayang Imphal Bengoon Yangbi Mayai Leikai; Sheikh Wasim Raja alias Wangthoiba (30) of Kiyamgei Muslim Mayai Leikai; Md Faruk Khan alias Kengba (19) of Phoubakchao Konuma; and Phusham Ajmir alias Kakpa (24) of Mayang Imphal Bengoon Yangbi Makha Leikai.
Their associate was identified as Khullakpam Ibosana (44) of Oinam Sawombung.
Items recovered from their possession included one round each of.303 and AK rifle, three Wireless sets, seven mobile phones and a four-wheeler.
Police said that the cadres were involved in extortion and intimidation of public in the Imphal valley, while their associate acted as a middleman between the militants and local civilians.
In separate operations, one cadre of KCP (PWG), identified as Kshetrimayum Rajen Singh (38) was arrested from Kakching Lamdong area under Kakching PS.
He was reportedly engaged in recruiting new members for the organisation, and a mobile phone was seized from him.
Another KCP (PWG) member, identified as Ningthoujam Birjit Meitei (36), was arrested from Nongren Mamang Leikai under Lamlai PS in Imphal East.
He was involved in extortion activities, and two mobile phones were Seized from his possession.
Another KCP (PWG) operative, identified as Laishram Suraj Singh (28), was arrested from Sawombung Junction near FCI Godown under Lamlai PS on the same day.
Additionally, three more KCP (PWG) cadres were arrested from Liwa Road under Singjamei PS in Imphal West.
They were identified as Md Maneruddin (48) of Lilong Haoreibi Lou Manga; Md Wajbir Ahamed alias Jimi (33) of Lilong Sambrukhong; and Thongam Joynanda Singh alias Boicha (51) of Khongnangpheidekpi Aheibam Leikai.
Security forces recovered three mobile handsets, two wallets, two Aadhaar cards, a sum of Rs 650 and a two-wheeler from their possession.
In another case, an active member of PREPAK (Pro), identified as Takhellambam Meipaksana Singh alias Korou or Biken (29) was arrested from near the gate of Imphal City Sewage Treatment Plant at Lamphelpat under Lamphel PS in Imphal West.
Two mobile handsets and an Aadhaar card were seized from him.
Police said Meipaksana was involved in extortion activities targeting banks and the general public in Imphal area and was responsible for the recent locking of a gas agency at Bamon Leikai.
He revealed that he was working under a self-styled PREPAK (Pro) commander, who in turn reported to a senior commander identified as Sana.
Sana had recently been arrested and remains in the custody of Sagolmang PS .
