Workshop on 'Career in Sports' inspires youth at Moirang

Moirang, March 25 2026: A one-day workshop on "Career in Sports" was held today at Lion's Club Hall, Moirang Chengei Leikai, with an aim to promote sports as a viable career option for the youth.

The programme was organised by the District Olympic Association in collaboration with the National Sports University (NSU ), Imphal, under the theme "Play Today & Lead Tomorrow" .

The workshop was attended by Deputy Commissioner of Thoubal, Pooja Elangbam; Bishnupur District Olympic Association (NSU) President Ningthoujam Mangi Singh; Vice-Chancellor of NSU, Dr Shyamsunder Rath; Registrar of NSU, Dr L Dibamani Singh; and Deputy Finance Officer of NSU, M Liklainu Chanu; among others as presidium members.

During the technical sessions, Registrar of NSU, Dr L Dibamani Singh; Asst Professor, Dr N Debala Chanu; and Asst Professor, Ravishankar delivered detailed insightful lectures on topics "The NSU Factor: Elevating Manipur's Sports Ecosystem" and the "Role of Sports Science in Modem Sports" .

Speaking at the occasion, DC Pooja Elangbam highlighted that building a career in sports requires dedication, perseverance, and consistent effort, similar to any other professional field.

She noted that Manipur's reputation as a sports powerhouse is the result of the hardwork and determination of its sportspersons, who have excelled at national and international levels.

She further pointed out that their achievements have led to the establishment of the National Sports University in the State by the Central Government, and urged the youth to make the use of such opportunities, which are not available in other states of India.

Emphasising the growing support system for aspiring sportspersons.

she encouraged participants to seriously consider sports as a career and take full advantage of the guidance provided through such workshops to bring laurels to the state and the nation.
