CRPF pays solemn tribute to Shaheed Mohd Latif

Imphal, September 24 2025: The 143 Bn CRPF conducted a solemn wreath laying ceremony today to honor the extraordinary courage and supreme sacrifice of Shaheed CT/GD Mohd Latif of CRPF on his 28th Martyrdom anniversary.

The wreath-laying ceremony held at Lilong Supta Kanong, Thoubal district, was attended by officers, jawans, family members and villagers to pay homage to the martyr who made supreme sacrifice for the nation while combating insurgents in Manipur.

On Sept 24, 1997, the CRPF troops while returning from an operation in Imphal, came under a sudden ambush.

Insurgents opened indiscriminate fire, prompting Shaheed Mohd Latif and his comrades to retaliate bravely despite being at a disadvantageous position.

A fierce gunfight ensued in which both sides suffered heavy casualties.

Six CRPF personnel, including Mohd Latif laid down their lives in the line of duty.

During the ceremony, SS Kushwaha, Deputy Commandant, along with officials and jawans of 143 Bn CRPF, paid rich floral tributes and homage to the fallen hero.
