Chandel launches Stop Diarrhoea Campaign 2025

In a bid to prevent diarrhoea-related illnesses and deaths among the children, District Health Society (DHS), Chandel launched 'Stop Diarrhoea Campaign 2025' at the conference hall of the District Hospital (DH) on Thursday.
The campaign promotes preventive measures, timely treatment, and improved hygiene practices.
The launch programme was held with Chandel deputy commissioner Laishram Nandakumar Singh as chief guest, and chief medical officer (CMO) Dr Joyson Mathew Monsang as functional president while Chandel zonal education officer Hrangbung Starson Anal, Chandel Child Development project officer (CDPO) Ahanthem Neemi and DH medical superintendent Dr Serbum Shakchung Moyon were the guests of honour.
Other attendees included district nodal officer for child health Dr Hrangbung Sally, district programme manager Jasha Premi, medical officers, ICDS supervisors, ANMs, ASHA and AWW workers, and DHS staffers.
In his address, Dr Joyson highlighted the campaign's convergence approach, involving departments like Health, Education, ICDS, and local bodies to achieve a shared objective.
The campaign focuses on ensuring universal access to Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) and zinc, strengthening hygiene and sanitation, and enhancing awareness about diarrhoea management, he added.
Dr Joyson explained that the campaign will target children under five, particularly in vulnerable communities, through door-to-door visits, school and Anganwadi centre outreach, and distribution of ORS and zinc.
With over 5,800 children under five in Chandel, the campaign will run till September 4, he informed.
