Thoubal, May 23 2026: The Patriotic Writers Forum (PAWF), Manipur today conferred the Dr Thiyam Suresh Literary Award, 2026 on noted Bangladeshi writer AK Sheram during a function held at Agartala Press Club.

The award was presented by Langthabal MLA Karam Shyam, who attended the programme as the chief guest.

The function was also attended by PAWF president Naoroibam Khamba Luwang, Manipuri Sahitya Parishad president L Birmangal, forum patron Yaiskul Khwairakpam and Kshetrimayum Madhabi as dignitaries.

During the programme, the forum also honoured founder of the Manipuri Library and Research Centre.

Bangladesh, Anju Ayekpam, along with Ayekpam Bimol, in recognition of their contributions towards literature and cultural preservation.

As part of the event, Athokpam Umabati released a book titled "Bangladesh Ki Leimai" .

The programme concluded with a poetry recitation session based on the theme of the May 3 incident, where poets and literary enthusiasts presented compositions reflecting on the ongoing situation and the call for peace and unity.
