NIT Manipur and IIT Jodhpur ink landmark MoU

In a significant move to bridge the academic divide and foster high-level technical synergy, the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Manipur and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jodhpur officially entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on February 20.The agreement was formalised by Professor DVLN Somayajulu, Director of NIT Manipur, and Professor Avinash Kumar Agrawal, Director of IIT Jodhpur.
The signing ceremony was attended by key academic leaders, including Prof A Dinamani Singh (Dean R&C, NIT Manipur) and Prof Bhabari K Satapathy, Dr Rajender Nagar and senior functionaries from IIT Jodhpur.
Some of the key features of the MoU are (a) It facilitates early admission for NIT Manipur students into PhD programs at IIT Jodhpur, (b) Faculty members from both institutes will collaborate on joint research proposals and funding bids, and (c) Inclusion of paid summer internships, specifically designed to support students from economically humble backgrounds.
During the event, Prof DVLN Somayajulu, Director, NIT Manipur noted that this MoU is a stepping stone toward a broader vision of dual-degree programs with institutes of repute.
Prof Avinash Kumar Agrawal reiterated IIT Jodhpur's commitment to its "sister NITs," emphasizing that the institute's state-of-the-art facilities are now more accessible than ever.
Prof A Dinamani Singh noted that the provision for paid internships makes this MoU unique in its inclusivity.
Furthermore, Prof Somayajulu has been tasked with leading a collective effort to bring other NITS of the North East Region into similar collaborative folds for a possible joint dual degree of B Tech and M Tech with parent NIT and IIT Jodhpur.
