AVSAR outlet opened at Imphal Airport

An AVSAR (Airport as Venue for Skilled Artisans of the Region) outlet was inaugurated at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, Imphal on October 18, 2025, to promote and sell local handloom and handicraft products.
The AVSAR outlet, a part of the Ministry of Civil Aviation's One Airport, One Product (OAOP) initiative, was officially inaugurated by Anurag Bajpai, Additional Chief Secretary (Textiles, Commerce & Industry), Government of Manipur.
The AVSAR outlet in the departure lounge, managed by local Self-Help Groups (SHGs) under the Directorate of Handlooms & Textiles, showcases Shaphee Lanphee- the State's iconic handloom and handicraft-symbolising Manipur's rich cultural and textile heritage.
The initiative aimed to empower local weavers and artisans by creating sustainable market linkages and connecting them with domestic and international travellers.
The outlet will be managed on a rotational basis by different SHGs, ensuring inclusive participation across the State.
Elangbam Jeeten, Director, Directorate of Handlooms & Textiles, Manipur was also present at the event.
