Imphal, June 20 2025: Following the announcement MLA Khumukcham Joykisan made on January 6, 2025 (Manipur Press Club foundation day) that a lift (elevator) would be installed in Manipur Press Club, the MLA today inspected the site where the lift would be installed.

After inspecting the lift installation site together with AMWJU president Asem Bhakta and EGM president Khogendra Khomdram, Joykisan acknowledged the momentous role being shouldered by the media.

He said that the media has an important role to play in bringing peace and normalcy in Manipur given the current situation of the State and appealed to the media fraternity to bring out a roadmap to bring peace and normalcy in the State.

Until and unless there is peace in Manipur, no development project can be implemented effectively, the MLA said.

A united Manipur will become a reality once there is peace and harmony among the indigenous communities of the State, he said.

Even if the geographical boundary remains intact, a united Manipur will remain elusive if the communities cannot live together in peace, Joykisan said.

He said that he would bear all the expenditures of installing a lift in Manipur Press Club which has four floors.

He said that the work of installing the lift would begin soon on an auspicious day in consultation with AMWJU and EGM .
