Imphal, March 19 2025:
A 20-year old student has gone missing after leaving his home on March 16 to buy some food items.
Police traced last location of his mobile phone contact in Joujangtek area.
The missing student has been identified as Luwangthem Mukesh (20) s/o Gyanendra Das of Keishampat Leimajam Leikai.
He is currently a 5th semester student (arts stream) at NG College.
Speaking to media persons in this regard, JAC co-convenor Sorokhaibam Suvashchandra conveyed that on the third day of the Yaoshang festival i.e., on March 16, Mukesh informed his mother Omila that he was going to purchase some dish items from Kwakeithel and left their home in a Maruti Alto 800 (MN05J 0018) at around 2 pm.

As Mukesh failed to return by 4pm, Omila called his mobile phone (8787423587) but could not get through.
The phone was then switched off around 5pm.The family then started searching for him and filed the missing report on March 17 at Imphal PS .
The police tracked Mukesh's mobile phone with his last location traced in Joujangtek area.
The Imphal police team also check CCTV footages and confirmed movement of the Maruti Alto towards Tongjei Maril in Bishnupur district.
While police are trying to locate Mukesh, his whereabouts and the par he was driving, remains unknown.
In this regard, the JAC submitted a memorandum to the secretary to Governor, DGP and security advisor on Tuesday, requesting for rescue of Mukesh, Suvashchandra added.
Meanwhile, the JAC along with various student bodies and CSOs staged a sit-in protest at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai community hall on Wednesday.
On the other hand, former minister L Jayentakumar has stated that the matter would be placed before leaders of the All India Congress Committee through MP Prof Bimol to put pressure on the centre.
In a press meet held on Tuesday, Jayentakumar expressed fear that the missing student, Mukesh, could have been abducted by armed Kukis after the former went to the hill areas leading from Bishnupur District Hospital.
The area he went missing is the same area where two young students went missing during the height of the conflict, he noted.
The former minister continued that the President's Rule was imposed in the state after the popular government failed to curb the almost two-year long violence in the state.
While the people are hoping that peace would soon be restored in the state under the President's Rule, it is questionable why precious human lives are being look down on.
One section of the society is being denied access along the national highways despite assurances and attempts of the Governor.
The chaos which unfolded demonstrates that imposition of the President's Rule is not making any significant change in the ground situation, as is evident from the disappearance of the student, he remarked.
Jayentakumar then said that as the PCC member of Keishamthong AC, he would bring this matter to the attention of AICC leaders and MP Prof Bimol Akoijam to urge the central BJP leaders solve the same.
