Annual State Art Exhibition kicks off in Imphal

Imphal, February 19 2026:
The 44th and 45th Annual State Exhibition of Art, organised by the Manipur State Kala Akademi (MSKA), commenced today at the MSKA Art Gallery in Khuman Lampak, Imphal.
The five-day exhibition was inaugurated with a formal function attended by dignitaries, including H Gyan Prakash, Commissioner, Art & Culture, Manipur; Yumnam Nabachandra, former Principal, Imphal Art College; and Prof Th Tombi.
In his address, H Gyan Prakash encouraged the public to participate and view the art forms displayed at the exhibition.
He emphasized the importance of appreciating the artworks created by artists and the necessity of encouraging and supporting those who rely on art for their livelihood.
Prakash also highlighted the need to select outstanding pieces for awards and ensure artists participate by bringing forward their best works, considering such exhibitions beneficial for both artists and viewers.
According to Sunanda Thokchom, Secretary of the MSKA, the 44th exhibition features 48 artworks by 42 participating artists while the 45th exhibition displays 50 artworks by 47 artists.
A jury will evaluate the displayed art pieces, select the top entries, and present them with awards to encourage their work.
