A joint team of Assam Rifles, Border Security Force (BSF) and Tengnoupal Police successfully destroyed 15 acres of illicit poppy cultivation in the General Area Samukom, Tengnoupal district.
According to a release issued by IGAR (South), acting on specific intelligence, the operation was launched to target narcotics-linked farming in the remote IndoMyanmar border zone.
The team conducted a detailed reconnaissance of the rugged terrain, uncovering multiple patches of fully matured poppy plants.
The coordinated effort led to the complete destruction of the illegal crop, valued at approximately Rs 7.5 lakh.
This action marks a significant disruption to narcotics production and the financial networks that sustain organised crime and insurgency in the border region.
The operation reflects the sustained commitment of security forces to counter drug trafficking and uphold peace and stability in Manipur's hill districts.
