Imphal, July 18 2026: Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh today attended the State Level Green Finale of the 77th Van Mahotsav Celebration 2026, held in convergence with Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 3.0 at the City Convention Centre, Imphal.

Addressing the gathering, Y Khemchand said that within two weeks, the Forest Department along with Government departments, security forces, CSOs and students planted 15 lakh saplings across the State.

He stressed that climatic conditions in Manipur have changed drastically due to deforestation, and the programme aimed to create awareness about the benefits of tree plantation for future generations.

The CM also inspected stalls showcasing forest produce and firefighting equipment He performed ceremonial watering of a commemorative "Uthambal" sapling, to be transplanted at Churachand Higher Secondary School as the CM's Commemorative Tree.

Deputy CM Losii Dikho, PCCF Anuraj Bajpai, Prof Sumitra Phanjoubant Arjuna awardee Naorem Roshibina Devi and senior officials attended.
